A common question that I am often asked before people work with me is whether they need a gym membership to do so, and it’s a good question. Especially if you are unsure about signing up for a long-term contract at your gym. And the answer is no, you don’t need a gym membership to train with me.

If you choose me as your personal trainer in Cardiff, then your entry to the gym is covered, and you don’t need an expensive gym membership.

However, having said that, if you are a member of any of the gyms in Cardiff, then we can train there. Some of my clients do this, and it makes them feel more comfortable because they are in a familiar place. This is great, as we want you to feel like your training is fitting in with your lifestyle.

When hiring personal training services, you are more than likely going to stick to your training sessions if the service is flexible to you and not the otherway around. Some of my clients love working out in the gym and the energy that comes with that, while others prefer the outdoors. The best thing about living in Cardiff is that there are many outdoor spaces that can be used for working out.

There are some amazing outdoor spaces in Cardiff that are perfect for personal training sessions. Bute Park, for example, offers wide open green areas and long pathways that are great for strength training and cardio work.

We also have Sophia Gardens, which offers open spaces and quieter areas that are ideal for focused strength sessions.

For those based a little further out, Roath Recreation Ground is another excellent training location. It features large open areas that accommodate a variety of workouts, ranging from resistance training to conditioning drills. You can train hard while still enjoying the space around you.

Tremorfa Park, which is located in the east of the city, is another good choice for working out outdoors, as it gives us room to move without the distractions of a crowded indoor setting. Tremorfa Park is ideal for clients who want to improve fitness and stamina in a more relaxed environment.

Closer to the waterfront, Sevenoaks Park and the areas around Cardiff Bay and Cardiff Docks offer scenic backdrops that make training enjoyable.

Training near the water feels calm and fresh. Early mornings and evenings are quiet and peaceful. It helps you clear your head and focus on your session.

Outdoor training is not just nice to look at, it works. We can use bodyweight moves, bands, kettlebells, and simple drills to build strength and burn fat. You do not need lots of machines to get results if your plan is set up the right way.

Choosing between the gym and outdoors depends on your goal. If you want to build a lot of muscle, heavy weights in a gym can help. If you want to lose weight, get fitter, or get stronger, outdoor sessions work just as well.

Some clients like to mix both. We can lift weights indoors and then use the park or the Bay for fitness work. This keeps training fun and helps you stick with it.

Not needing your own gym membership gives you more freedom. You are not tied into a long contract before you know if this is right for you. You can start training, build good habits, and decide later if you want to join a gym.

If you are new to fitness, this makes things less scary. Walking into a gym alone for the first time can feel stressful. When you train with me, you are guided from the start, whether we are inside or outside in Cardiff.

If you have trained for years, personal training still helps. A clear plan and regular support can push you further. The place you train matters less than having the right structure.

Results come from being consistent and following a plan. It does not matter if you train inside a gym or outside in Bute Park. What matters most is turning up and putting the work in.

Training should fit around your job and family life in Cardiff. If mornings by the Bay suit you, we can train there. If evenings in a gym work better, that is fine too.

You do not need to wait because you are unsure about joining a gym. You do not need to sign a contract just to begin. You just need to start and stay committed.

From there, we build the plan around you
