What you can achieve with personal training.

    lifestyle maintenance fitness programme

Hiring a personal trainer is often a big choice that people have to make. Do you continue working out in the gym, hoping that you will get results, or do you pay money to pretty much guarantee them? While it may be a difficult choice for some, it often comes down to having a goal in mind, and reaching that goal can sometimes be difficult, as most people tend to struggle with real progress on their own.

Going to the gym is a skill in its own, and people may think that if you run on a running machine and don’t eat, then you can get fit, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Have you ever noticed someone in the gym, jumping from one machine to the next, looking a little lost? We all have, maybe that’s even you, and this can be a problem, especially if you have a goal in mind.

Most of the time, not seeing results in the gym doesn’t come from a lack of effort, but it comes from a lack of structure, inconsistency and knowing what you need to do to make things work. You can put the most effort in as much effort as possible, but if you aren’t following a structured process, then it really can affect the results you get, and when you don’t get results, you are more than likely going to quit going to the gym.

With personal training, everything is built around your goal and a clear outcome.

This could be anything from lowering your blood pressure to losing weight, or even looking great on your wedding day.

What most people don’t understand is that getting to all of these different goals will require different training, different nutrition and different ways of working out.

Instead of following a random workout routine and hoping that you can hit your goals, hiring a personal trainer in Cardiff like me can help you plan and commit to a workout that builds upon the last workout so that you progress.

A PT can also provide you with accountability.

It’s easy to skip sessions when no one is being a pain in your ass. Having someone there to guide you will keep you consistent so you can reach your fitness goals.

Over time, this will drive results.  If you are looking for a personal trainer in Cardiff, then look no further.

Types of personal training sessions I offer.

When it comes to working out, everyone is different, and for that reason, my personal training sessions are built depending on what will work best for you and your current situation.

Below are some of the personal training sessions that I offer. If I don’t have something you need, please get in touch with me, and I will see if it is something that I can accommodate.

    One-to-one personal training

One-to-one personal training is just as it sounds, a personal training session built entirely around you.

One-to-one personal training sessions are the best option if you are new to the gym and want my entire focus.  Here we can look at routines, dieting, and even lifting form while you are in the gym.

One-to-one personal training sessions are a great choice for beginners who need to learn everything from the ground up. Don’t let that put you off, though; it will mean you haven’t learned any bad habits, and you can start from scratch. You can learn more about my one-to-one personal training here.

    Group personal training

Group sessions are ideal if you want to work out with others while still getting guidance from a professional. A group training session will still give you the guidance and structure you need, but with a more social feel to the training, while being more affordable than a one-to-one personal training session.

Typically, my clients who take part in group personal training sessions will use the experience to not only hit their fitness goals but also have that social environment that keeps them motivated.

    Online personal training

Some of my clients don’t have the time to go to the gym every day, and when life gets busy, an online personal training session can be the best option.  If you need flexibility with your training, online coaching gives you a structured plan along with regular support and check-ins without the need to meet in person.

With my online training sessions, we can use Zoom, Google Meet, or anything else that you are familiar with to have weekly catch-ups where I can monitor your progress and see how your training is going.

    At-home personal training

If you don’t want to go to the gym or work outdoors, then if you prefer to train at home, I can bring the sessions to you.  This is an ideal personal training option if you have a busy schedule or aren’t quite confident to visit a gym yet.

Typically, my clients who go for this option haven’t got the time, or don’t want to go to the gym yet, as they don’t feel confident enough. Don’t worry, though, as we work together, I will help you overcome this, so you will be happy to train anywhere.

    Running coaching

If your goal is to improve your running performance, build your endurance or train for an event, then my running coaching services can help you.  I will give you a clear plan along with structured sessions so you can become a better runner.

Even if you have never run before, my running coaching service will get you up and get you active. You can learn more about my running coaching services here.

    Boxing Coaching

Boxing sessions are great for fitness, conditioning and stress relief. These sessions combine technique work with high-intensity training. Even if you have never punched a bag before, my boxing coaching will have you throwing punches with the right technique quickly.

    Muscle gain coaching

Putting on muscle is often something that my clients all want to do, but not knowing how to gain muscle while minimising fat increases can be difficult if you don’t have the experience to do so.

Most people will go to the gym, lift heavy and wonder why they aren’t putting on muscle, and there could be a few reasons for this.

With my muscle gain coaching, I will help you to “bulk” the right way without putting too much weight on, which will make cutting even harder in the long term.

    FAQS

How often should I train with a personal trainer?

Everyone is different, some of my more experienced clients will train with me once a fortnight, whereas some of my newer clients with less experience will train with me multiple times a week.  This helps me to monitor their progress more closely, so if something isn’t working, then we can monitor and catch it quickly.

Generally, 1-3 sessions a week is a good place to start, and as your experience grows, you can cut back on the sessions if you want to.

Typically, you will have more training sessions in the beginning, and then as you gain experience, you can taper them off. I love taking clients from not knowing anything about dieting and exercise to a place where they can create their own training plans and nutrition which fits around their lifestyle.

Do I need to be fit before starting?

Not at all.  Some of my clients have never set foot in a gym or picked up a weight before.  My personal training sessions are designed for all levels, including complete beginners.  All of my sessions are designed around your starting point.

So if you feel you aren’t fit, then don’t worry, that is one of the main reasons for hiring a personal trainer in the first place. We all have to start somewhere, and if your base level of fitness isn’t very good, then we will work on improving that right away. Doing so will not only help you to become more confident in the gym and in life, but it will also help you with your lifestyle.

You will experience more energy, and you will start to feel good about yourself, which is something that my clients tell me all the time.

    Where do sessions take place?

Sessions can take place in the gym, outdoors or at your home. My personal training sessions are flexible and can be built around what works best for you.

Not only does this keep things fresh, but it also keeps you consistent, giving you no room for excuses like you couldn’t make it to the gym. This isn’t to put pressure on you, but it’s to keep you consistent when times may feel like you want to quit. Once you get past that barrier, you will learn to love working out.

    What results can I expect?

Results depend on your goals and your consistency, if you give me everything you can, you will see results with me, I guarantee it. Most of my clients will see improvements in their fitness, strength, and energy within the first few weeks of working with me.

Can you help me with nutrition?

Yes, I can provide you with simple and practical nutritional guidance that works for you so that it supports your training and helps you to reach your fitness goals.

We can look at where you are currently at, your cooking skills, the foods you like and dislike, how often you eat out and then come up with a nutrition plan that doesn’t starve you, yet keeps the pounds coming off each and every week.
